Yeah right I hear you say.… which is what I used to say, here’s my story.

16 Years ago my wife left me and my 1 year old son and my life crum­bled, I had no choice but to give up work and become a stay at home dad because the resources avail­able to sin­gle par­ent fathers was non exis­tent. A man rais­ing a child in a woman’s world was hard work but also very reward­ing as I learnt a great deal from a few very kind sin­gle mums who took me under there warm wings and showed me the par­ent­ing ropes. Life at that time was very hard finan­cially, my only source of income was a state ben­e­fit called Income Sup­port which was pit­tance but my rent was paid and had a roof over my head. I quickly learnt the art of bud­get­ing, liv­ing within my means and before I knew it four whole years had passed, my son was able to start school and work was an option I could not resist. Within days of my son’s first day of school I had found work in a petrol sta­tion and secured a local child min­der, “yeah! back to work and no more strug­gling” Which was true fam­ily credit had become avail­able so I had a top-up on my wage which was great and for two years I lived well but noth­ing lasts, my employ­ers went bank­rupt and I found my self look­ing for work again and again, over a seven year period I worked as a shop assis­tant a dray man deliv­er­ing real ales, a Ware­house Assis­tant an Order Picker and finally as a Sup­port Worker enabling indi­vid­u­als with learn­ing dif­fi­cul­ties to become inde­pen­dent within the local com­mu­nity which was indeed a very reward­ing job but also stress­ful and unso­cia­ble, after work­ing three years as a sup­port worker I broke down and was found by a friend in a local pub with no rec­ol­lec­tion of who I was and why I was sit­ting sup­ping ale when I should have been working.

I had a Men­tal Break down due to stress and iso­la­tion and spent a year under a doc­tor try­ing to under­stand what had hap­pened. When I finally recov­ered I found myself alone and job­less, my son had moved in with his mother for a year, life was a mess but things started to lookup my son moved back home with me and I was deter­mined to make some­thing of my life I was 40 and had no inten­tion of work­ing for any­one else, I wanted to work for me, I wanted to enjoy life, enjoy the friends that had stood by me through all the rough times but more than any­thing I wanted to have Money so that I could be there for my son when he needed help and sup­port, he was my rock and I should be his.

Rock bot­tom and the only way to go was up, how­ever this time I was deter­mined to stay up. I searched the inter­net for work at home jobs but became dis­tracted by the inter­net itself an amaz­ing resource of just about every­thing and quickly became immersed in a world where any­thing was pos­si­ble. Within 6 months I built my first web­site about lone par­ent­ing hahaha what a laugh I was becom­ing more and more con­fi­dent, I even taught my self the basics of web design, I was meet­ing peo­ple and net­work­ing but the money was get­ting tighter and tighter my bud­get­ing skills could no longer cope so It was back to my orig­i­nal plan “seek out work at home jobs” and that’s just what I did day and night search­ing for the best way to make money on-line. I vis­ited site after site, read arti­cle after arti­cle and then it hit me Affil­i­ate Mar­ket­ing, umm I had signed up ear­lier as an affil­i­ate to adver­tise a few prod­ucts on the lone par­ent site with a few ban­ners here and there and earned enough to pay my host­ing fees which was great but I wanted to earn enough to take me and the lad on hol­i­day, pay the bills and still have enough to enjoy when I wanted. I looked at arti­cles spout­ing words like Niche mar­kets (wtf) and the deeper I got the more I became inter­ested in the mar­ket­ing world but no one was show­ing me how, that is until I read an ebook that cost me next to noth­ing, it changed my world opened my eyes and I did it all on an extremely tight bud­get and no knowl­edge of the Mar­ket­ing world.

I fol­lowed the step by step instruc­tions I learned how to spot a poten­tial niche and develop it to pro­duce recur­ring sales, how to use things like key­words and search engine opti­mi­sa­tion (SEO), back links, email mar­ket­ing and lots more. I actioned this guys ideas and teach­ings (pure genius) and I now earn more a week for a few hours than I did full time and have thrown my bud­get­ing skills to the wall. If your for­tu­nate enough to find a good guide with step by step instruc­tions and a wealth of tal­ent will­ing to give good advice, then you are half way to find­ing enough money to live on, the other half is all down to you, My advice is make a good plan of Action, do at least 3–4 hours work each day actively pro­mot­ing your site/networking, writ­ing arti­cles etc and if you can stick to that you will at least reap the rewards within a few months, you won’t get rich but can be enough to live off. The more you put in the more you get out

My life has changed, I am free, I decide what time I work, I have fun when I want it, I’m here for my lad and I am in com­plete con­trol of my life.
